Friday Facts

Friday Facts was started my Alex and Lauren from A Flight of Minds. This meme is a chance for you bloggers to ask me any question(s) you want and a chance to get to know me.

So this Friday Facts is going to be a little different because I was going to add some pictures with the questions I was asked last week, but I didn’t have a chance to load them. The week has been so hectic. So, I’m going to work on that this weekend – or at least try to. I’ve seen this bookish meme going around the blogosphere (I don’t know who started it) so I thought I would do this instead.

Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
I like paperback books because they’re cheaper, but I would rather have hardback. Hardbacks are harder to bend up and I hate it when my books are bent.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?
I have to go with Barnes & Noble. They have a much bigger YA selection than Borders, and it’s more organized I think. All the Borders I have been into, it takes me like half an hour just to find the YA section. And Borders’ books are always bent in one way or another.

Bookmark or dog-ear?
O_O Who in the world dog ears? That is book abuse! I definitely use a bookmark and I have a ton in case I lose the one I’m using.

Amazon or brick-and-mortar?

Brick and mortar! I like to see the books up close and personal before I buy them. Also you can’t really just book stalk with Amazon. Sometimes I do use Amazon just because they have better deals than bookstores.

Alphabetize by author, or alphabetize by title, or random?

Right now, half of my books are not in any order because I have run out of shelves…again! But the rest of my books are alphabetized by the author; it’s so much easier to find books that way (plus, I know when one is missing if someone decides to run off with my books, which has happened before and I was POed because they didn’t ever bring it back)

Keep, throw away, or sell?

What the…PEOPLE THROW AWAY BOOKS?! I do not approve!

I keep mine, even the ones that I don’t really like. If I do decide to get rid of some then I will donate them to the library or give them away.

Keep dust jacket or toss it?

Once again…who would just toss the dust jacket?! That’s the prettiest part and on most books, it’s the cover. I definitely keep it!

Read with dust jacket or remove it?

Depends. If the jacket will stay on then I’ll read with it on. But sometimes the jacket doesn’t want to stay in place and ends up sliding all over the place, when that happens I just remove it until I’m done reading.

Short story or novel?

Definitely a novel! I have tried some short stories but they aren’t long enough for me because I want more, then I tend to get frustrated because there isn’t anymore.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?

Chapter breaks. Sometimes if I stop in the middle of a chapter, then I don’t remember what I read before it. So I just stop when the chapter ends.

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?

"It was a dark and stormy night" all the way!

Buy or borrow?

Buy! The library in my town doesn’t have any good choices or if they do, you have to wait for a month just to get the book.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?

Ummm…I would have to say all three.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?

Stand alone novels just have to have a tidy ending. But if we’re talking about series, then I would say cliffhanger! I love it when books keep my on the edge of my seat – the only part I don’t like it waiting until the next installment is released.

Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?

Not morning! I’m way too tired in the morning to pay attention. The other two are the best time to read, although, I tend to do a lot more night reading.

Stand-alone or series?

Stand-alone just because I hate the wait between the books in a series. And usually in a series, the next book doesn’t come out until the next year and by that time I have forgotten some of what happened in the previous books.

If there is a question you would like to ask me, and it can be about anything at all, just leave it in the comments or you can email them to me. I would be more than happy to answer your questions, so ask away!

I have to confess... I'm a dog-earer. Like I can remember to take a bookmark everywhere!

I'm jealous of you Americans having Barnes and Noble. It always sounds like the mecca of bookstores.

Confession time: When I lived at home, I didn't like when my mom picked up one of my books because she dog ears like crazy and it makes me want to cry! *confession time over*

I prefer Brick and Mortar as well but I have to admit that books are usually cheaper on Amazon.

I enjoyed reading your answers! Thanks for sharing. It's always fun getting to know fellow bloggers.
